Overview

CSL Australia is currently looking for a permanent full time Third Engineer to join MV Whyalla on a roster schedule 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off. This operation is based in Whyalla. Reporting to the First Engineer, the Third Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of the Fuel and Lube Oil Purification system, boiler maintenance and feed water control, compressed air machinery and domestic services as directed.

How will you contribute to our success?

The Third Engineer will be responsible for: 

  • Safe operation of the main engine in accordance with Class and Standing Orders; 
  • Safe operation of the boiler in accordance with Class and Standing Orders; 
  • Performing day work in conjunction with a rotating 24 hour system of Gear Turn including fuel and lube oil purifiers, air compressors, boiler and boiler feed water control and heat exchanges as directed; 
  • Any other duties as required.

Basic Requirements 

 

  • Educational requirement: as per AMSA Marine Order 72 – Engineer Class 3 (required) 
  • AMSA Engine Watchkeeper (Class 3) CoC/CoR Unlimited 
  • Minimum 6 months sea time as an Engine Watchkeeper 
  • Certificate of Safety Training (STCW) (desirable) 
  • Work Safely at Heights Certification (desirable) 
  • Enter and Work in Confined Space Certification (desirable) 
  • Hold, or be eligible to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) (required) 
  • Australian Citizen or unlimited Australian Working Rights 
  • Living in Australia
