Overview

CSL Australia is currently looking for a permanent full time Third Officer to join our cement carrier Goliath. This operation is based in the Bass Strait. Reporting to the First Officer, the Third Officer’s primary task is navigation watch keeper at sea and as Duty Cargo Officer when in port.

How will you contribute to our success?

The Third Officer will be responsible for:

  • The maintenance of all Emergency Equipment delegated by the First Officer;
  • The upkeep of records, compliance with the monthly issue of maintenance due, medical stores, first aid equipment, emergency equipment (including lifeboats, ire-fighting equipment, BA equipment);
  • Any other duties as required.

The skills you will bring to our team

  • Educational requirement: As per AMSA Marine Order 71 (mandatory)
    • At least 18 months of documented qualifying sea service on vessels ≥500 gross tonnage.
    • Of this, at least 12 months must be on voyages of at least 24 hours duration.
    • Within these 12 months, at least 6 months must be served as an understudy to the officer in charge of a navigational watch or in an equivalent watchkeeping role
  • MSIC Card (required or ability to obtain)
  • Working Safely at Heights (required or ability to obtain)
  • Enter and Work in a Confined Workspace certification (required or ability to obtain)
  • Current AMSA Medical (required or ability to obtain)
  • Australian Citizen or Valid Work Visa (required)
  • Living in Australia
